Beautiful morning in Akron today. And I am so happy I had a chance to see the Laundromat mural before the afternoon rain rolled in.
After getting around all the current downtown road construction barriers, you will find South Akron’s Laundromat building at 1035 South Main St.
The mural was created in 2016 by the Art Bomb Brigade and and Arts LIFT, led by artist Matt Miller and a large number of art students from the Akron Public Schools and University.
Art Bomb Brigade was initiated by the University of Akron in 2016 and has since been involved in a number of mural projects in Akron, including Chill Ice Cream Company, the Akron Sustainer, the Mill Street Bridge and of course the Laundry building.
The mission of the Art Bomb Brigade is to breathe new life into Akron neighborhoods through high impact public art, artistic disruption and community enrichment.
Arts LIFT is a summer arts apprenticeship program offered by the Myers School of Art also part of The University of Akron.
